Kolibri Hellfire Sizing
  • WiFi or Camera not working?

In most cases the problem with customers reporting they cant find the WiFi network is the micro terminal cable is not connected. Follow the steps below to correct this issue.

    Connecting Hellfire Camera
  • Does this drone have to be registered with FAA?

In the enactment of the National Defense Authorization Act for 2018, you will now need to register this drone. Regulations are constantly changing so please check with Federal and State regulations.

  • Why can't I record video?

In most cases the memory card is the reason. The Hellfire requires a SD card with a memory limit between 2GB - 32GB with a class 4 rating or above. Anything above or below can cause problems with recording video.

Another main reason is not stopping the recording. You MUST press the record button to stop recording, PRIOR to disconnecting the battery. Failure to do so will result in the video not saving and your footage being lost.

  • How do I connect to WiFi for FPV views?

Steps for connecting your to your Kolibri's Drone FPV WiFi

    1) Power on the controller.
    2) Power on the drone.
    3) Move the LEFT joystick up then DOWN. You will hear and audible noise. The controller will now be bound with the drone.
    4) On your iOS or Android device device launch settings.
    5) Go to WiFi and look for the network "Kolibri-FPV........"
    6) Connect to the network.
    7) Launch the Fly Kolibri App
    8) Tap Get Flying
  • Can I switch or upgrade the camera?

No, there is no camera upgrade option available at this point.

  • What is the max control distance?

The max control range for this drone is 150m unobstructed. When you are reaching the max distance the controller will single an audible alarm to notify you are reaching the max range. NEVER exceed the max control range.

  • How do I calibrate and how often do I need to do it?

Calibration should be the very first thing you do before flying. We recommend as a good rule of thumb that you recalibrate as often as possible. Especially after a drop or crash. If you notice the controls not responding as normal or if there is a drift by the drone a recalibration should be performed.

Below are the steps needed to calibrate:

    1) Turn off all power to both the drone and the controller.
    2) Place the drone on an absolute level and flat surface.
    4) Power on the controller.
    5) Power on the and then the drone.
    6) Move the controller's left joy stick UP then DOWN. The Controller will make a audible noise to confirm it is now bound.
    7) Immediately move the controller's RIGHT joystick to the BOTTOM RIGHT position. The LED's under the motors will flash.
  • Does it have live stream video?

Yes. Using the Fly Kolibri app for iOS (8.0 or later) and Android (4.1.2 or later), you will be able to watch real time FPV. You will need a WiFi enabled device to see the video stream. You do not need an existing WiFi network as the Hellfire creates it’s own network that you can connect regardless of location.

  • Does this drone need a rest period?

The type of motor used in this model is called a “brushed motor”. They have no way of cooling themselves, other then time. It is recommended with all brushed motors to perform a rest/cool down period.

  • What type of memory card should I use?

The hellfire requires a SD with a memory limit between 2GB - 32GB with at least a class 4 rating. Any SD card that does not meet these specs may cause problems with recording video or taking photos.

  • How do I adjust the Trim? (Pitch, Roll & Yaw)

Adjusting the Roll (Left & Right): While holding the trim button on the back move the right joystick left or right depending on the drift of the drone. We recommend keeping the joystick held down to the direction you want to correct. You will hear a crescendo either up or down indicating you level of adjustment. If you are correcting left you will hear a deeper sound crescendoing down, and adversely if you correcting right you will hear a higher pitch sound crescendoing up. If you reach the end of the allowed corrections in either direction you will hear a rapid 3 beeps. To return to the neutral position you must move the joystick in the other direction. Once you achieve the neutral trim position you will hear a single loud beep.

Adjusting the Pitch (Forward & Back): While holding the trim button on the back move the right joystick forward or back depending on the drift of the drone. We recommend keeping the joystick held down to the direction you want to correct. You will hear a crescendo either up or down indicating you level of adjustment. If you are correcting back you will hear a deeper sound crescendoing down, and adversely if you correcting forward you will hear a higher pitch sound crescendoing up. If you reach the end of the allowed corrections in either direction you will hear a rapid 3 beeps. To return to the neutral position you must move the joystick in the other direction. Once you achieve the neutral trim position you will hear a single loud beep.

Adjusting the Yaw (Spin Left & Right): While holding the trim button on the back move the left joystick left or right depending on the spin of the drone. We recommend keeping the joystick held down to the direction you want to correct. You will hear a crescendo either up or down indicating you level of adjustment. If you are correcting left spin you will hear a deeper sound crescendoing down, and adversely if you correcting right spin you will hear a higher pitch sound crescendoing up. If you reach the end of the allowed corrections in either direction you will hear a rapid 3 beeps. To return to the neutral position you must move the joystick in the other direction. Once you achieve the neutral trim position you will hear a single loud beep.

Resetting the Trim: If you find yourself lost in your trim adjustments and want to reset the trim changes, we recommend moving the trim to the maximum allowed position in either direction wait till you hear the 3 rapid beeps. Then move the joystick the other direction and listen for the single loud beep indicating the middle neutral position. This correction works for both Pitch and Roll.

Please Note: The Trim should only be adjusted when you are correcting for damage. For example if a blade was so damaged and it is causing the drone to drift left. Using the trim you could compensate for the drift. However, this feature should NOT be used under normal circumstances or to correct factors such as wind.

    Why?

Because wind and other natural factors are not consistent. If the Wind is moving left to right and then changes to blow right to left. The drone's drift left will now be compounded by the trim adjustment you made and you risk the the drone becoming rapidly uncontrollable.

We stress again the trim should only be adjusted to correct issues IF AND ONLY IF the drones movement is consistent with NO OTHER factors acting upon it.

  • Does this product have a stabilizer?

This drone is equipped with Altitude Mode which means using the onboard barometer, the drone will read changes in the atmospheric pressure and attempt to keep the drone stable and hovering in place.

  • How long does it fly and how long does it charge for?

The max flight time is 15 minutes. However, time may very depending on conditions. The battery takes about 180 minutes to fully charge.

  • I want to buy 2 is there a problem flying them at the same time?

No, the controllers will auto-bind to each drone separately on different channels not to interfere with each drones individual controls. However, we recommend first connecting to one then the other so you have control over which drone is bound to what controller.

  • After a crash what do I need to do?

First thing that should be done after a crash is a visual inspection of the drone. Look for any damage and perform any repairs. If nothing seems to be damaged, you should ALWAYS perform and recalibrate to ensure a safe flight.

  • What rules do I have to follow if I fly for fun?

Please read all documentation before flying, and refer to our fly safe page.

  • Can this be connected to a VR headset?

Yes, you must use the Fly Kolibri app for iOS or Android to have a VR experience.

  • Would this be a good drone for someone under 10?

We know that all pilots differ in skills and capabilities. However, we cannot recommend this drone for anyone under the age of 14.

  • Is the camera adjustable?

Yes, you can manually adjust it by hand to either straight ahead or angeled down but cannot be pointed down.

  • Is this ready to fly?

Yes this drone comes recharged and ready to fly. However, before flying, please calibrate the drone to ensure safe flight.

  • Can I bring drones on a plane?

Since regulations are always changing, we recommend for you check with your airline.

  • What type of motors, brushless?

No, this quad uses brushed motors Type 1020. It is recommended with all brushed motors to allow a rest/cool down period after each flight.

  • How often do I need to recalibrate?

We recommend as a good rule of thumb that you recalibrate often. Especially after a drop or crash. If you notice the controls are not responding as normal or if there is a drift by the drone a recalibration should be performed.

  • I installed net propellers and now it wont take off what happened?

In most cases this is due to the wrong propellers being installed. On the propeller, you will notice an “A” or “B” indication which allows you to it put on the corresponding motor.

  • What is the angle of the camera?

The Hellfire has an angle of view of 120 degrees.

  • When should I adjust the Trim?

The Trim should only be adjusted when you are correcting for damage.
